Fashion Icon of the Week

This weeks Fashion Icon is my favourite Beatle girl, Pattie Boyd.
Pattie Boyd was a fashion model in the 1960's. She also dabbled briefly in acting, which lead to her meeting George Harrison in 1964 on the set of the Beatle's movie, A Hard Day's Night. She and George fell in love, and were married in 1966.

The 1960's were a time of great change, and fashion was a very big part of this. Pattie's style showcases this change from the more reserved, innocent style of the early-60's, to the flower power fashion of the later-60's.

Early Sixties

In the early 1960's, Pattie's hair was most often styled in a 'flip', and teased back at the crown. Her early 60's look was very sweet and girly, with cute shift dresses, skirts and sweaters. Almost a bit of a school-girl look.

Pattie had a bit of a different look to what was considered conventional for models at the time. Her somewhat prominent front teeth were not the norm, but nonetheless incredibly cute.

Mid-Sixties

As the 1960's progressed, so did Pattie's style. Her blonde hair was worn longer, still sometimes teased, but without the flip. Her looks seems to have begun to gain more influence from the mod fashion of the time. Mini dresses in geometric patterns, short skirts, and lots of bright, sharp colours.

Late Sixties

In the later-60's, the Beatles visited the Maharishi in India. This, along with the hippie ideals of the time, would have also influenced Pattie's style. Her hair was now worn very long and straight, sometimes with loose braids at the front. During this time, Pattie wore many floral and psychedelic patterned dresses. She accessorised with lots of long, beaded necklaces, sunglasses, boots, and gladiator sandals.
